Dale and Matthew Kerns set a new Cabelas King Kat record for the heaviest 5 fish stringer at 210.9 lbs! Breaking the previous record of 196lb set by Dale Kerns and Greg Edwards in 2008, right here at Henderson, KY. They said that the increase in current helped them locate the large schools of bait fish that these big catfish were feeding on. They were fishing the lower end of the JT Myers pool, using skipjack in 42ft of water. They caught over 25 fish on the day and said that they were having to cull 30lb fish. They earned $2,500.00 for 1st.
2nd place went to Demetrius Kinnis and Aaron Wheatley with 143.1lbs, earning them $1,500.00. They were fishing in 40-45ft of water using skipjack and caught over 10 fish on the day.
3rd went to Walter Hayes and Glynn Grogan with 127.25lbs, earning them $700.00. Team fished 20 miles down river anywhere from 20-55ft of water using skipjack. They caught 10 fish on the day, none bigger than this 60lb blue cat that decided to take the bait with just under 1 hour to go in the competition.
4th was Daryl and Jason Masingale with 89.9lbs, earning them $500.00. Marks their 3rd straight top 5 finish and moves them into 1st place in the Rippin Lips “AOY” Points Race with just 2 events remaining. They currently have a 1pt lead over Jerry Cline and Joe Ludtke.
5th place and Big Fish went to Todd Andrrson and Keith Sayre with a total weight of 87.15lbs and a big fish that weighed 69.65lbs. They received $400 for 5th and $500 for Big Fish.
6th place went to Jon Land and Dan Fields with 84.25lbs earning them $300.00.
7th went to Ken and Elzie Lewis with 80.05lbs, and this nice 51.5lb flathead.
8th Place we to Monster Rod Holder and Mustad Hooks Team of Steve and Lisa Douglas with 70.9lbs. Steve said that he had a tough day and didnt figure the fish out until after 12 o’clock. “At noon, we had zero fish, so I decided to switch to anchoring and thats when we started putting fish in the boat,” said Douglas.
9th Place went to the Monster Rod Holder Team of James and Janet Fox with 68.75lbs.
10th place went to Scott and Brady Webb with 55.85lb
