Bill and Jim Newingham jumped from 18th place after Day 1, all the way to 1st to win the 2011 Cabela’s King Kat Classic in dramatic fashion!
On the final day, the brothers from Patterson, IL brought just over 43lbs to the scale giving them a 65.66 lb, 2 day total! Which was good enough to win the 2072 Oquawka Boat package valued at $30,000.00, that includes a 115 Evinrude, 80 lb MinnKota Trolling motor plus a 788 Humminbird Locator. They fished within 5 miles of Burlington, in 20ft of water using shad. They caught over 70 fish between the 2 days of competition. They also recieved a $100 bonus and prize package valued at $500 from Mustad.
Joe and Ron Grzanich from Pekin, IL took 2nd place with 61.88 lbs. They recieved $2,500.00 for 2nd, a 70 lb MinnKota Trolling motor, plus a $200 Cabela’s gift card for being the highest placing member of the Cabela’s King Kat Association.
Ryan Daniel and Chad Forbes from the Burlington area jump from 22nd into 3rd place after bringing in 33lbs on day 2. They took home $1,200.00 for 3rd place and were the highest placing team using Whisker Whip rods by Tangling With Catfish, earning them a 2012 TWC sponsorship.
4th went to Harold Fuller and Phillip Colburn of Omaha, NE with 53.72. They recieved $1,000.00.
5th went to Ray and Robin Sanders from Rockfalls, IL with 52.00 lbs. They recieved a $1,000.00 Cabela’s gift card.
6th went to Buddy Weisenberger and Walter McDaniels from Quincy and Meredosia, Il with 51.48 lbs earning them $800.00
7th went to Ken and Tom Luttrell from Laplace and Ramsey, IL with 50.94lbs and earning them $700.00
8th went to Calvin and Annie Meyer and James Van Pelt from Nauvoo, IL with 50.45lbs earning them $500.00
9th place went to the Concord, IL team of Bill and Julie Kunzeman with 47.76lbs, earning a $500.00 Cabela’s gift card.
10th place was Doren Smith and Jerry Kropff from Stigler, OK with 45.84lbs winning a 70 lb MinnKota Trollin Motor.
11th place was Jerry Cline II and Mark Farrow from Laomi and Meredosia, IL earning $300.
Prizes were given out thru 18th place.
Big Fish went to Mike and Luke Blint of West Point, IA with a 13.74lb flathead on day 1 of the competition. They recieved a $500 check and $500 Cabela’s gift card.
Trapper Salazar recieved a $500 savings bond from Ron Gooding Ins for being the highest placing adult/youth.
2011 Rippin Lips “Angler of the Year” POINTS RACE
1st place went to Daryl and Jason Masingale from Paragould, AR. They will recieve a 2012 Rippin Lips Sponsorship that will include a boat wrap, 4 comp entries, clothing and product package, Cabela’s Gift Card
2nd place went to Joe Ludtke and Jerry Cline I from Springfield and New Berlin, IL. They will recieve a clothing and product package from Tangling With Catfish, plus 3 comp entries to 2012 events, and Cabela’s Gift Card.
3rd place went to the 2010 Rippin Lips “AOY” Jerry Cline II and Mark Farrow from Laomi and Meredosia, IL. They will recieve a clothing and product package from Monster Rod Holders plus a Cabela’s Gift Card.
